Pivot pairing is a method of efficient networking. We describe pivot pairing as the process in which innovators pair themselves with a peer or provider in order to obtain information and/or guidance to make a pivot that impacts their idea/enterprise. Innovators must constantly grow their network of support.
Pivot pairing can be provided in three ways:
- Peer Network: A peer is someone within an individual’s network. A foundation of Pivot.City is that entrepreneurial ecosystems should include peers who have insight and experience that support the Innovator’s Journey. Typically, entrepreneurial ecosystems limit themselves to formal institutions and business plan components. Pivot.City opens the entire universe to becoming a part of an individual’s ecosystem (their On-Chain ecosystem). The On-Chain ecosystems compliment physical (Off-Chain) ecosystems to promote coordination that is contingent on processes rather than relying solely on the reputational capital of institutions.
- Leverages a "Trust Framework".
- Peer connects with a known peer or newly contacted peer for support in the Pivot.City Network.
- Known peer uses Pivot.City email ID to share encrypted records/content with a peer.
-
Provider Network: Providers typically belong to an established institution with an established reputation for supporting entrepreneurship. An Off-Chain ecosystem represents a wide range of providers that may be encountered throughout the Innovator’s Journey. These often include academic institutions, accelerators, chambers of commerce, corporate vendor programs, government supported entities/programs, incubators, and small business centers.
- Leverages a "Reputational Framework".
- Innovator enrolls in a program or connects w/known provider or newly contacted provider for support in the Pivot.City Network.
- Known peer uses Pivot.City email ID to share encrypted records/content with a provider.
- Trustless Network: When an innovator lacks the time to develop relationships for support and/or they lack a sufficient provider network. Pivot.City offers a 'system of processes' that allows them to trust unknown peers/providers for pivot pairing.
- Leverages a "Trustless Framework".
- Innovator enrolls in a Pivot.City Network program.
- Peer uses Pivot.City email ID to share encrypted records/content with a Pivot.City Trusted peer/provider.
- Random: There is a popular approach in most ecosystems that key influencers hold all the keys to entrepreneurial success in an ecosystem; pushing innovators to seek support from those outside of their network. A peer or provider who is outside of an individual’s network but sought after for entrepreneurial support is considered a random request @Pivot.City. To which, the peer or provider may decline to participate. There is lots of uncertainty with this approach.
- Unknown peer uses Pivot.City email ID to share records/content with unknown peers/providers.
